There’s still time to nominate someone for Citizen of the Year, but you need to hurry.

The deadline for submitting nominations is Dec. 1. The annual event will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at the Newnan Centre.

This will be the first time the event is being held at the Centre and sponsors, the Kiwanis Clubs of Coweta County, are hoping more people will be able to attend with the change to the larger venue.

The 2017 Citizen of the Year is Pastor Tamarkus Cook

According to event chairs, “the COTY award is designed to honor an individual with outstanding leadership and citizenship within our community, someone who has demonstrated exemplary vision, civic pride, and a strong commitment to a better Coweta through volunteerism and community involvement. The Citizen of the Year award annually recognizes an individual with these characteristics:”

* The nominee must live in Coweta County, and his/her civic and volunteer activities must be centered in Coweta County and the surrounding area.

* Consideration will be given to those who demonstrate leadership and performance in multiple areas of community service over a period of years.

* The nominee may be an individual from any walk of life, and there are no requirements or restrictions relating to gender, age, race, religion or ethnic background.

The nomination form, in both PDF and electronic versions, can be found at the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce website: http://www.newnancowetachamber.org
