From Coweta County Schools Press Release

All Coweta County schools will be closed on Thursday, January 18, due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions. In addition, the city of Newnan and Coweta County has issued a curfew beginning at 5 p.m. today through 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Students and employees should not report to school tomorrow.  Parents are encouraged to stay abreast of weather conditions, and to continue to monitor the school system’s website at for updates.

The Heritage School and Odyssey Charter School will also be closed on Thursday.

Thursday’s closing of the Coweta County Schools will mark the third weather-related school closing since the second semester began on Jan. 4.

The City of Newnan and Coweta County curfew stems from the “State of Emergency by the Governor” for a total of 83 counties in Georgia. The curfew means “it shall be prohibited for any person, other than exempt individuals (public safety, media and industries personnel) to appear in public in the territory subject to the curfew but not limited to streets, highways, alleys, sidewalks, vacant lots, parks, public buildings or any other public places in all or a delineated part of incorporated Newnan during the state hours of the curfew.”

“Any individual violating this ordinance, upon conviction, shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $1,000 per violation or imprisonment not to exceed sixty (60) days or both.”
