The annual Independence Day Parade is once again set for July 4th on the streets of Downtown Newnan.
Veteran’s Memorial Park is where the parade will begin at 9 a.m. It will follow Jackson Street and end at the Greenville Street Park.
Since July 4th falls on a Wednesday, Main Street Newnan has announced the weekly Farmer’s Market will take place as scheduled along South Court Square. The Farmer’s Market will also start at 9 a.m. and other local vendors will be present.
A different twist to the traditional Fourth of July will be the fireworks celebration, hosted by the Newnan Rotary Club, which will take place on Saturday, July 7 at Newnan High School’s Drake Stadium. Construction of the new turf playing field at Drake Stadium has forced the rescheduling to Saturday.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for the fireworks show and admission is free. Concession stands with hot dogs, popcorn and soft drinks will be available as will music and other attractions for kids.
Main Street Newnan says all interested parade participates should meet at Veteran’s Memorial Park at 8:30 a.m. Registration is required only for participants which intend to used a motorized vehicle to pull a float. The cost to participate is free. Online registration for a float can be done at www.mainstreetnewnan.com. All forms must be submitted by Friday, June 22.
