Shawn Bright has been named CEO of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Newnan, an inpatient rehabilitation hospital belonging to the Encompass Health, formerly known as HealthSouth, network. He assumed the position on April 2.

As CEO, he will oversee the day-to-day operations as well as patient quality and care at the physical inpatient rehabilitation hospital. He comes to HealthSouth Newnan after serving as CEO of Adams County Regional Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

In his more than 28 years’ experience, Bright has worked in a variety of healthcare roles starting his career as a nursing assistant and monitor technician while in college to becoming a registered respiratory therapist then moving into leadership roles such as director of operations, CEO and CEO – regional vice president.

“Having worked in a variety of healthcare roles and departments throughout his career, Shawn has gained unique insight as to what it takes to run a hospital and provide top-notch care at a variety of care levels,” said Lori Bedard, vice president of Encompass Health’s southeast region. “We are excited to welcome him to our team at HealthSouth Newnan and know the strengths he brings to the role will greatly benefit our staff, patients and the Newnan community.”

A registered respiratory therapist by trade, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also earned a second bachelor’s degree from Liberty University and went on to receive a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Louisiana State University.
