From Coweta County School Press Release

The Coweta County School System will delay elementary school dismissal for 30 minutes on Monday, August 21, due to the solar eclipse that will occur that afternoon.

The peak time for the eclipse will occur at approximately 2:36 p.m. in our area. Elementary schools will dismiss Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. to avoid loading buses during the peak activity of the eclipse.

Because the 30-minute delay will affect bus routes, middle and high school bus departures may also be delayed by up to 30 minutes that day. More information regarding dismissal procedures specific to your child’s school is being communicated by schools.

Unfortunately, the eclipse glasses ordered by the school system have been recalled by the supplier due to safety concerns. Because of this, schools cannot provide students with viewing glasses. NASA is live-streaming the solar eclipse, and other eclipse-related educational activities may be offered during this time.
