From Special Reports
Downtown Newnan will host its annual Summer Wined-Up event on Friday, June 8.
The Summer Wined-Up is set to take place from 5-9 p.m. It will be followed by a free Jazz Concert, sponsored by the Newnan Cultural Arts Commission beginning at 8 p.m. The Jazz concert will be at the Greenville Street Park.
The Summer Wined-Up is an annual downtown wine-tasting event. Individual tastings occur at a different downtown business, where guests should expect to perform a “wine walk” that moves through over 30 host locations. The merchants who host this event will feature different hor d’oeuvres and a variety of whites, reds, and specialty blend wines for guests to sample. All downtown business hosts are extending their business hours and hospitality to all downtown guests; drinkers, and non-drinkers, including retail specials and promotions.
Advance tickets for the Summer Wined-Up are $30 per person and are available at www.mainstreetnewnan.com. Event goers must be at least 21 years of age and provide a valid photo ID at the registration table in the Newnan Carnegie Library for admittance. Upon signing-in, each participant will receive a commemorative wine glass and an informational brochure.
The featured performer at the Jazz concert is Robin Latimore. Currently, Robin is the lead vocalist for her band “Robin Latimore and the Bad Boys.” She has recently shared the stage with jazz greats Ronnie Laws, Phil Perry, and Jeff Lorber.
Free public parking is available along downtown streets, and in the City of Newnan’s Public Parking Lots located at: 13 Lagrange Street, 25 Lagrange Street, 22 Spring Street, 6 First Avenue, 50 East Broad Street, 65 East Broad Street, 41 East Washington Street and 22 East Broad Street.
