Getting older can have its benefits, such as getting senior discounts. Seniors can use their age to their advantage and save on clothing, movie tickets, cell phone plans and more.

Here are some local businesses that offer senior discounts, but seniors shouldn’t be afraid to ask about deals at places they visit frequently.

RETAIL STORES

Ross: On Tuesdays, shoppers who are 55 and older get a 10 percent discount at Ross.

Kohl’s: Each Wednesday, Kohl’s offers a 15 percent discount, in store only, for customers age 60 and older. Seniors must present identification to verify their age. The senior discount can’t be used in combination with other percent-off discounts. Dollar-off discounts, such as Kohl’s Cash coupons, Yes2You Rewards and promotional gifts, will be applied prior to percent-off total purchase discounts and coupons. The offer is not valid on several categories and brands of merchandise. For more information, visit https://cs.kohls.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/101/~/age-specific-discounts.

Belk: Starting July 10, Belk will start a new discount day for seniors, military and teachers every Tuesday. Customers 55 and older will receive 20 percent off sale and clearance items storewide. (They will get 15 percent off home items and shoes.) Shoppers are not required to use their Belk card to take advantage of the savings.

Walgreens: Walgreens has Seniors Day on the first Tuesday of every month and offers customers who are 55 and older or AARP members a 20 percent discount on eligible, regular priced items. To receive the savings, seniors must have the store’s Balance Rewards card.

Goodwill: Goodwill doesn’t have an official senior discount, but customers of all ages can get 50 percent off items marked as the color of the week at Goodwill retail stores.

MOVIE THEATERS

Regal Entertainment Group: At Regal Entertainment Group theatres, seniors age 60 and older can get a discounted rate on movie tickets all year round. In Newnan, Regal Georgian Stadium 14 is at 232 Newnan Crossing Bypass in Ashley Park.

AMC Theatres: At AMC Theatres, seniors age 60 and older can get a special rate on movie tickets all year long.
